Late nights, early mornings – two of my favourite things. “There aren’t enough hours in a day”, so many have said. A thought I’m guilty of bowing down to occasionally. This is the sort of feeling I had following me like an aroma arriving at the shoot. Blood shot eyes (thank goodness for sunglasses), three hours’ worth of sleep in my system (thank goodness for coffee), and an unexpected ending.
Moving on, enough of my sleepless twenties. Meeting Pulse Models’ Vimbiso Nzuma was quite an experience. A model that brought more to the table than was required. Aside from experience, working with Vimbiso confirmed that chemistry between a model, the photographer and the story means everything – it ties all together. Apart from the sun occasionally peeking through the clouds, all through the shoot I felt like a ball bouncing off walls – if it’s a bad analogy know that I meant I was energetic. It’s refreshing when you as the photographer put 110 percent into guiding the modelling into what shots and story you want to tell and instead, having the modelling revive a fire inside of you and elevate the story. I didn’t feel as if I was shooting – I was dancing. This might be obnoxious to many but to me, photography is art and art is something to be felt and spoken to the soul. As always I cannot end a post without giving gratitude to the one’s that contributed, so here goes something: MODEL// Vimbiso Nzuma @ Pulse Models PHOTOGRAPHY AND STYLING// Yours Truly BTS AND VIDEO// Marlon Du Plooy Photography and Film |
